Spiral petroglyphs (carvings) and pictographs (drawings) can be found in remnants of virtually every ancient civilization throughout the world. Although we can’t travel back in time to ask those ancient peoples what the spiral held for them, in the present day there are two (of many) widely accepted interpretations of the implied meaning of this symbol.
First, as a path spiraling outward, it represents growth and expansion. In the reverse, the spiral represents a journey inward, from outer consciousness toward inner spirit (God, Higher Consciousness, Universal Spirit, Source).
Mother Nature must surely have been the inspiration behind the spiral’s prevalence in our ancestors’ lives. Spirals are everywhere in nature… ferns and flowers unfurling, snail shells, sea shells, our own DNA, whirlpools, tornados, galaxies, embryos, animal horns… it’s a nearly endless and awe inspiring list. Is it any wonder this symbol has held special meaning throughout time and history?
The “Spiral Medicine” Spirit Vessel is meant to hold that which is sacred to you. Fill it with personally meaningful gifts from Mother Nature… feathers, acorns, pebbles, shells… or use it to hold those small keepsakes that are near and dear to your heart.
